I know who's going to win.

The Blu-Ray versus HD-DVD battle has just been decided and the winner is going to be...

[Drumroll]

HD-DVD.

With the latest development in format wars, Sony has decided to take the high road and not endorse pornography in Blu-ray, thus forcing the industry to seek alternatives for delivering High Definition content, i.e. HD-DVD. If you're wondering why pornography really is the deciding factor, consider this: VHS came to prominence when said porn industry chose VHS over Betamax.

20 or so years down the road, has anyone heard of Betamax? (Which by the way, was also developed by Sony...)

Cheers to Sony for sticking to their guns. But they're taking their last stand in the format wars...and HD-DVD has just brought out the big guns.

Pull!

Narrowing the income gap, the Dubya way!

So the Singapore government's part in narrowing the income gap:

The grand plan.

Ahem.

  1. Increase taxes on EVERYONE. (It's called GST)
  2. Drop corporate taxes by 1%.
  3. Watch as the middle and upper classes pull away in their BMWs and Ferraris (respectively) as the poor get gypped.
Thank you.

The Apple iPhone...First Thoughts.

And no, I'm not going to bash it. I have to admit that I really think they've definitely released some cool hardware. But look at it. Really look at it. A touchscreen iPod-phone?

One word.

Smudging.

I mean, really. As is the MP3 player front has already got tons of problems with smudging on glossy surfaces. (Which MP3 player maufacturers seems to really like...) and you're coming out with a touchSCREEN MP3 phone? Doesn't that mean that unless you powder your fingers often, the average iPhone's going to be smudge-heavy? I can just imagine the first peripheral that they will release for said iPhone. The iRubberglove. Or the iWipecloth.

All that said, it still looks really cool.

No really.

Futility.

It is with much amusement and a slight sense of worry that I see that 2000 or so years after the fact, they are still trying to kill Jesus Christ.

Life...or something like it.

Firstly: Happy and Blessed New Year to all. I'm not in a reflecting kinda mood and so I'll spare the look back on 2006. I am however in an anxiety riddled back-to-school kinda mood, reflected by my dreams last night about seeing a building in the distance and refusing to head toward it.

It's been a weird couple of days since 2007 struck and I've got to say that I've not been feeling 100%. It's not that I'm getting sick or something, it's just that I'm feeling a little bit detached from my body. Which is weird. But nothing much to fret about, I'll be right as rain by tomorrow.

My one BIG resolution this year is something that I've been toying around with for a long time and I think I may actually get somewhere this year. (Assuming that both Rook and myself manage to pull it off.) It's a project that I feel has been 15 years in the making and I would love to see it come to fruition this year. And I guess that this would be my way of making it happen. (Mainly putting myself out there a la Tym and getting off my butt and doing something about it.) More news re: this to come.

But mainly, I'm looking forward to a surprise or two this year. So here we go.

2007.

Bring it on.
